Amazing box set!Reviewed by Mask Maker, 2009-10-13
If you are a Kubrick fan, then buy this set! All his best and most memorable films are here and the bonus discs for each movie are incredible. Especially the Shining bonus disc. Not to mention the very well done documentary on Kubrick's life. I never get tired of watching this collection. Malcolm Mcdowell's audio commentary on A Clockwork Orange is very interesting. He tells little stories and rare facts about the filming and what went on. It's also nice to see these films presented in the original theatrical aspect ratio. They look fantastic. The Clockwork Orange widescreen laser disc released 12 years ago fell short. This DVD presentation is how it should look. Warner could of done a better job boxing up the set instead of the half assed flimsy cardboard casing. They also should of included the slip cases with the poster art that are on each movie if you buy them individual. But...whatever. Other than that it's great.
Stanley Kubrick - Warner Home Video Directors Series leaves one
wanting more.Reviewed by P. Miller, 2009-09-01
These are great movies made even better by the extras included with them. They just made us wish for a more comprehensive collection. Kubrick made so few movies, why are they not all in this set?
Kubrick is the BestReviewed by Charles Gaines, 2009-08-07
When I purchased this product it was on sale. The asking price is
quite steep at full price.
The main problem with the set is that the covers of the DVDs are
not well designed as previous reviewers have pointed out. However
in the set only The Shining is a single DVD. This means that 2001,
Clockwork, Eyes and Jacket are all 2 discs. The bonus features are
great. A must buy!
Great Director, Bad PackagingReviewed by Ricardo Velez, 2009-06-08
The group of movies is great, but the packaging is cheap and flimsy. I would have thought that they would have at least used thicker cardboard.
Well worth itReviewed by William R. Warren Jr., 2009-06-07
Five of Kubrick's top ten or so in one box, with oodles of extras and long interviews with Stanley and others -- this is a top-notch collection. Well worth the price, the extras alone are worth the price. I owned three of the five before I bought the set, but owing to the extras I'm very happy I bought the set. (Plus now I have "loaners")
